Workshops

The Group Coaching approach I use isn’t a traditional method; no PowerPoint slides are used.

 

So how does it work…

 

Sessions consist of an Overall Topic, Guided Discovery, Problem Solving and Practical Implementation.

  1. Groups are small (max 10)
  2. If chairs are used, they are arranged in a half circle, no tables, and a whiteboard
  3. All examples and scenarios worked on are sourced from the participants
  4. The group aims to solve each problem under guidance
  5. Concepts/tools are bought in as needed during problem analysis
  6. Sessions are 2-3 weeks apart
  7. Participants are asked to test out the solutions in-between sessions
  8. Each session starts with a reflection on what happened when solutions were applied

We generally spend 80% of the time working through issues brought up by the participants in relation to the topic. All new content is specifically explored in the context of the businesses culture and the people involved, making the sessions immediately relevant and practical application straightforward.

The group coaching sessions are highly interactive and challenging as participants are compelled to map their own day-to-day experiences and challenges. Although not always a comfortable experience, the depth of learning exceeds what can be achieved using conventional training approaches.

 

This approach is highly valued by most of the participants, even though it requires some courage to explore issues that involve people known to the group in a semi-public forum. A strict set of ground rules is used to ensure confidentiality and to safeguard integrity.
